African Basket Weaving
One morning I woke up with the desire to visit the continent of Africa, simply to learn new ways of creating the things I love. Weaving is a task that is very popular in many African countries and it's something I'd love to be taught. Now I know I can learn through Youtube, but it's not the same as learning it from my roots.
For many of you who don't know, "The weaving of baskets is as old as the history of man. Traces of baskets have been found in the Egyptian pyramids, and woven basket liners have left their impressions inside the fragments of ancient pottery. As soon as the man (and woman!) were able to plait fibers together, they began to experiment with structures for woven containers." (Basket Weaving, 2017).
Some countries that I'm currently looking into visiting to learn this new task are Ghana, Nigeria and Morocco. A few more may pop up along the way but these three really peaked my interest.
